This was my second attempt at making a headband. The first attempt was for a birthday present for my sister. (she is going to send me a picture soon) I made a scroll out of felt for this design. It was fun to make and turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. :) However the next time that I make a skinny design like this I will have to make it out of something stronger than felt! It was pretty difficult to cut out and it tore a couple of times.

Clip Art Technique
I modified by tracing the arrow I found in clip art to the blue paper, then I found a big bold block print to type Georgia, and printed that off as well. I had to cut out the letters instead of trace them because the blue arrow was too dark. For the journaling block I found an exit sign that looked real online then printed it off. I wanted to be accurate so I pieced green and yellow paper to make the sign including chalking the edges for the look I wanted. My favorite part was the map. I found an outline of the US from clip art and printed it onto tan paper. I painted the map to distress it, let it dry, and then crinkled it up to make it look even more distressed. Like maps are supposed to look, at least in my head! Last of all I stitched the route that my brother and sister-in-law took to get to Georgia. And Voila! Clip art fun for scrapbooking! It was so fun and I think you should try it! Let me know how it goes for you!!

Peg Board Idea
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake
So I found a great fondant recipe and started my experiment from scratch.
(Here is a recipe that is similar to the one I used- http://www.wilton.com/recipe/Rolled-Marshmallow-Fondant) It was a very sticky process but the end result was fantastic!
The fondant was actually really tasty and with food coloring I was able to add the coating necessary to make the Clubhouse look like it is supposed to.
My first trial at a real birthday cake was a success!
Don't be afraid to try making your own fondant, it is so fun and really adds a lot to your cake masterpiece! :)

Window Wall Art
While at the scrapbook expo we found some awesome vinyl lettering
for super cheap. At the time we had planned the vinyl for
a wall somewhere. A little while later I started seeing the trend
of old windows as decoration. Shambray had some 'vintage' windows that
we had to clean and add a coat of paint to. Then we decided to put the
two together and this was our finished product!
It turned out to be so fun! Now I just need a house to hang
it up in! Thanks again Shambray for sharing!
Well Here Goes Nothing...
My recently found passion is creating things! I started with just scrapbooking and I still love to spend time coming up with new ways to document my family's history. After becoming a stay at home mom I came across a show that my mom watches sometimes. The local Studio 5 on KSL. I have loved watching all these creative and crafty women come on the show to share their expertise from cooking, to decorating, to photography, to scrapbooking, etc. Every time that I see something new I think, "Ooh, I want to try that!" (I know that is totally their goal, but it works on me!) At times some of the projects they do can seem quite daunting, like cooking for me! But I really love to challenge myself and try new things. So I am starting this blog to document my trials and errors. Hopefully I will be able to document more about my success, we all hope that about the tasks we take in life don't we! My goal is to better my family's life and have lots of fun experiences along the way!
So here goes nothing...I am going to document my projects and I hope that you will be willing to provide me with lots of input! The good and the bad! I really would like to know all of your thoughts, as well as knowing what you are passionate about!
